Far Cry 6 guide: How to get tanks (1944 Petrov and all variants)
cre: Far Cry 6 guide: How to get tanks (1944 Petrov and all variants)
If you have already played Far cry games, then, there is a good chance that you are used to exploring the countryside by driving, flying or navigating with different vehicles. But, of course, nothing beats the wanton destruction caused by tanks. These unholy armored juggernauts will quickly do the job of the Yaran army if you manage to acquire one. here is our Far cry 6 guide to help you obtain tanks including the 1944 Petrov HS-100, 1944 Petrov HS-100 B, and Petrov HS-100 Elite (super heavy).
To note: For more information, see our Far cry 6 guides and features hub. You can also view our separate guide to the Senotor Pinga and Karlito.
Far cry 6 guide: How to get tanks in the game – 1944 Petrov HS-100, 1944 Petrov HS-100 B and 1944 Petrov Elite (super heavy tank)
Deactivate a tank
In general, all tanks of Far cry 6 are of the 1944 Petrov HS-100 variant. There are a few minor differences, such as when you would acquire them and, in the case of a particular vehicle, its own functions. They are found in the wild (that is, just explore the main roads and bases in Yara and you might stumble upon one). If a tank is not defended, then you are really in luck. But, more often than not, there is already a soldier inside, which means you have to hijack him.
You will need the Volta Supremo or any Supremo variant as long as you can use EMP grenades. The idea is to fry the circuits of a tank (which would last about 10 seconds). You can see it in the featured image at the top of this guide.
During this time, you have to jump on it and then press “F” to hijack the vehicle. This will force Dani to remove the driver and stab him.
Bring it back to base
Just because you drive a tank doesn’t mean that it belongs to you for good. Like most other vehicles from Far cry 6, you must bring it to the nearest affected vehicle pick-up point. Since this is a land vehicle, we have to find a garage or whatever with a green car icon. Once it’s in the right place, the tank will be unlocked and you can spawn it from any ground vehicle pickup point.
To note: The tanks are huge and bulky. You’d better hit the shift key to make them follow the main road. Trying to steer them on dirt roads and narrow mountain trails is a tough challenge.
1944 Petrov HS-100
The most basic reservoir of Far cry 6 has a gas can in the back. Shooting it causes a damaging explosion. This type of tank spawns along the roads while you are still at a low level. For example, you can find one at the FND tank depot in the western part of Isla Santuario. But, the closest vehicle pickup point is the Cabeza fuel depot in the far southeast.
Another good place to find one is in Madrugada. Just complete the main missions until you get “blood ties” from Espada. She will accompany you to a factory in Revmira where you will find a tank.
To note: As with most vehicles, death and subsequent reloading of your autosave can cause tanks to disappear from the location where you originally found them.
1944 Petrov HS-100 B
The only difference here is the black paint. You should find several along the mainland roads. If you can, try increasing your heat meter / desired level to make them spawn more often (although the game tends to spawn helicopters instead).
1944 Petrov HS-100 Elite
This super heavy tank is a harder nut to break compared to its counterparts. These are only found in Esperanza.
If you already have a foothold in the capital (i.e. guerrilla hideouts or checkpoints), you can wait for one to appear. Unfortunately, you will not find a vehicle pick-up point in Esperanza. You have to head further south to the Cielo Gardens (Noventarmas – Valle de Oro) if you want this to be recorded permanently.
Far cry 6 is available through the Ubisoft store and the Epic Games Store.
