Kutty (English: Little Child) is an Indian Tamil-language romantic action-drama film directed by Mithran Jawahar, who with the project recombines with the lead actor following the success of their previous venture. The film stars Dhanush, Shriya Saran and Sameer Dattani in the lead roles with Radha Ravi playing a central role. The film, a remake of the Telugu film Arya (2004), has Gemini Film Circuit as producers, while Devi Sri Prasad has taken care of the musical composition At Kanyakumari Beach, Geetha (Shriya Saran) watches a lonely diary where she likes a poem written in it. She admires the poem based on the same page. As she and her friend admire the beauty of the sunrise, she accidentally loses one of her ankle bracelets (it falls into the sea). She sees a person jump after, and she perceives him to have died in the waters. The incident haunts her again and again in her dream, and she feels very guilty about it. Back in the present in Chennai, Geetha finally meets a rich, handsome boy, Arjun (Sameer Dattani), in his middle school, who impresses her to earn her love. He offers and threatens to love him or else he would die jumping off the college roof. Already feeling guilty for being the cause of a person’s death, not wanting it to happen again, Geetha accepts her love and shouts “I love you” in front of the whole college of Arjun, including Kutty (Dhanush) was a witness. Kutty offers his love for Geetha in front of Arjun, which shocks Geetha and annoys Arjun. Geetha refuses her request again and again and reminds her of her relationship with Arjun. However, Kutty instead tells him that it is not a problem for him and tells him to continue loving Arjun and that he will never stop loving him. Arjun is irritated by Kutty’s play. He fights with him in order to intimidate her into stopping, but instead, Kutty asks him that if Arjun trusts his love, no one will separate Geetha from him. Arjun finds no other choice but to accept in order to prove his trust in his love (other than to accept that his love is weak). Kutty does all kinds of stunts to impress Geetha (including winning a rigged race to protect Geetha’s chastity from Arjun) but fails to get her to accept her love. Meanwhile, Arjun introduces Geetha to his father (Radha Ravi) expecting him to approve and bless their marriage, but his father, anxious to pursue his political ambitions, hires the daughter of a minister (who is reveals to be a spoiled girl of doubtful character) for Arjuna. So Arjun escapes with Geetha, who is helped by Kutty. Kutty, Arjun, Geetha are pursued by Arjun’s father’s men but are unable to catch them. Meanwhile, old wounds are renewed between Kutty and Arjun. After an intense fight (kung fu) with the goons (where Arjun runs and Kutty fights), Arjun leaves Geetha with Kutty without telling them anything. Kutty takes care of Geetha, who touches her. She quickly realizes the love he has for her and regrets not having met him before his engagement with Arjun. She tries to say the same to him, but Kutty, thinking that Geetha is scolding him, closes her ears and doesn’t hear what she actually said to him (he does this several times in the movie). Arjun arrives at the scene with his father, now very happy with their marriage. Geetha leaves with Arjun to marry him. On Arjun and Geetha’s wedding day, Kutty wanders here and there to take care of the wedding-related chores. His friends understand his internal pain and slap him in the face, begging him to cry at least now. As Geetha is on her way to the ceremony, Kutty stops her and openly expresses her pain at her love and how much she will miss her and asks if her love has touched her at least once, not knowing that her love already touched her. He laughs then and passes it off as a joke. Geetha looks helplessly speechless. Kutty’s boyfriends present Geetha with a gift from Kutty. The gift turns out to be Geetha’s lost anklet and the poem page where she wrote a response while in Kanyakumari. Kutty was the person who jumped into the sea to get his ankle bracelet and was presumed dead by Geetha.
