Path blocked (missing tool needed) icons on your Forbidden Horizon West the map may appear long before you can do anything about them. In this Forbidden Horizon West Path blocked (missing tool needed), we’ll tell you everything you need to know about the catch-all term which refers to three different items and three different tools.
Abnormal Growth / Fire Glow / Ignite

The image above is among the first strange objects that Forbidden Horizon West labeled as blocked path (missing tool needed) on our map. Hold R3 to scan one, and your Bluetooth Focus calls her…
Abnormal growth
Hybrid crystalline and fungal growth of unknown origin. Invulnerable to shocks. Special equipment required for cleaning.
As the Focus text implies, you can’t do anything about these things at the start of the game.
Several hours later, during the main quest “Death’s Gate” (level 10), you will craft the Igniter upgrade your spear, which allows you to “blast fire glow and remove their obstructions. Firegleam icons on your map formerly labeled as blocked path (missing tool needed) now show Firegleam.
All you have to do is approach them and the game will give you the Ignite the fire glow quick. Press Triangle, dip your spear, and grab the above-average loot behind them.
Metal Flower / Vine Cutter

The screenshot above shows a metal flower in Forbidden Horizon WestWhich one is labeled as blocked path (missing tool needed) on our map at first. Hold R3 to scan one, and your Focus calls it…
metal flower
A metal flower sprouting organic vines. Invulnerable to shocks. Special equipment required for cleaning.
Several hours later, during the main quest “Seeds of the Past” (level 24), you will receive the vine cutter upgrade your spear, which allows you to “dissolve the vines of a metal flower”. Metal Flower icons on your map formerly labeled Path Blocked (missing tool required) now say Metal Flower.
You can now approach a metal flower and melee attack it until the flower opens. Then interact with the flower to “Install the vine cutting module,” and the blue-green vines surrounding it dissolve.
Diving Mask / Sunken Caverns

During your first few minutes in The Daunt, you can discover the third and final type of blocked path area (missing tool required) on your map. Explore the area enough and you’ll find that Aloy can’t swim well enough to finish Sunken Cavern: Daunt East.
Several hours later, during the main quest “The Sea of Sand” (level 22), you will receive the Diving mask, which is “a special breathing apparatus that allows diving to extreme depths”. You can now swim like a Jedi in any sunken cave you find.
